WhatsApp Cloud API setup
WhatsApp is available on Pro and Team. Meta business verification and display-name review are external approval steps and may take longer than the Nexus setup itself.
1. Prepare your Meta business
For shared app-review and test-user setup, read the Messenger and Instagram guide. Then add the WhatsApp product, connect a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) and phone number, and create a permanent system-user access token with the required WhatsApp messaging permissions. Copy the Phone number ID, WABA ID, token, and App Secret. Test accounts can message only their registered recipients until Meta approves the business and display name.
2. Connect and deploy in Nexus
Save all four values under Credentials, then deploy. Nexus validates the phone number and returns a public callback URL plus a rotated verify token. Paste both into Meta's WhatsApp webhook configuration and subscribe the WABA to the messages field. Replacing credentials rotates the token, so update Meta afterward.
3. Observe the 24-hour window
Normal text, image, AI, and reply-button messages work only for 24 hours after the customer's latest inbound message. Use an approved WhatsApp Template node outside the window. Template names and language codes must exactly match WhatsApp Manager. Meta bills messages directly to the customer's WABA; Nexus execution metering remains separate.
Current media and reply limitations
Inbound images and documents trigger the flow as [Image] or [Document], but their files are not downloaded in this version. Quoted reply context is also not exposed. Outbound images work when their URL is publicly reachable by Meta.
